I think Biden was hoping Manchin would come around. So surprise, Joe, it's a different world then when you were in the Senate.

It's about time the Democrats listened to Bernie Sanders and did what he tells them. Put the bill up for a vote. It will fail but all Senators' votes will be on the record. Then break it into pieces and vote on each piece - don't negotiate, vote, negotiating is over. Make all Senators vote on each piece. See which fly (if any) and which don't.

Once again, Democrats have been too nice (or weak). All this should have happened months ago since, yeah, anyone who glanced at the news could see it coming.

In the meantime, Biden and Harris and half the Cabinet should go to West Virginia to let the people there know what their Senator just cost them. I heard yesterday 92% of West Virginians would have benefited from some provision or another in the bill. In the case of the child tax credit it would have been real money Scorch the West Virginia earth and leave everyone stammering at Manchin: "Say it ain't so, Joe."
