I watch the open or automate it daily. Most trades set to go at the end of two minutes now or soon thereafter.

But, yes, the first 30 minutes can be terribly choppy (and can screw with you brain for sure). You can always make a decision to wait until 30 minute in. But remember, the best trades go your way right away so you might miss a lot in the first 30 minutes on the big days. Key is to have a close by stop. Any stock that comes back through its open is suspect anyway.
